Advancing Life and Regenerating Motherland (ALARM)

ALARM is a Myanmar non-governmental organization focused on environmental governance and empowering citizens to defend their resource rights. It works to promote pro-poor public policy reform in natural resource management and environmental conservation, and to strengthen civil society participation in public policy reform on issues such as renewable energy policy, land tenure security and sustainable foreign direct investment.

This is primarily achieved through a range of activities for (a) civic education and capacity building on securing resource right of the grassroots at community level, (b) networking of key stakeholders together and building linkages between forest users and the private sector for example, (c) promoting public consultation in legislative processes, (d) encouraging community initiatives in environmental conservation, (e) organizing public campaign for exercising democratic right and responsibility and (f) promoting community development-cum-business investment for climate-resilient rural enterprise development.
