Development cooperation in Zimbabwe

Norwegian People’s Aid is working with both long-term development programmes and crisis aid in Zimbabwe. We are collaborating with partner organisations both at the local, regional and national levels. The partners represent various interest groups mobilizing to counter the crisis in the country. Suppressed groups can, through this programme, increase their knowledge and capacity through, for example, WomenCan training or youth networks, so that it becomes easier to participate in the democratisation and economic development in Zimbabwe.

Through its cooperation partner Hope Tariro Trust, Norwegian People’s Aid is operating a school food project in Masvingo. Each day 46,727 pupils across 107 primary schools receive porridge in school. This is an extremely important measure to ensure children’s caloric intake in a region that is often hit by draught and which therefore has a very low security of food. The project is also supporting 8,000 households with agricultural incentives and tools, as well as providing training in sustainable farming.
