What we do
Norwegian People’s Aid works for a more just distribution of power and resources between the countries and in the countries where we have programmes. A better distribution of recourses is essential in order to achieve a development which contributes to a good life for all.

It is essential with political measures which secures that a country’s resources are to the benefit of everyone, men and women. Thus, Norwegian People’s Aid supports local organisations in their work to change the power relations, and to boost marginalised groups’ influence in society.
Norwegian People’s Aid has a special focus on equality and women’s participation. We emphasise promoting democratisation, in particular the right to participate. Norwegian People’s Aid does not have a thematic focus because we regard it as important to support local actors and their own strategies. Some of the cases that concern our partners are; questions relating to exploitation of natural resources; distribution and women’s right to property; indigenous peoples battle for rights; youth’s participation; and access to public services.
Simultaneously we are lobbying in Norway to get equal distribution and democratisation up on the agenda of Norwegian development politics, and in relations to Norwegian politics in countries where we work.
