NPA Activities

Mine Action Programme

The programme is implemented in Bosnia & Herzegovina (BiH) and Croatia, with offices in Sarajevo and Benkovac. 

Bosnia & Herzegovina

Since 1996, NPA has surveyed 111.2 km2, returned 71.8 km2 to local communities for productive use of the land, destroying 7,901 landmines and 42,344 other pieces of explosive remnants of war (ERW). After examining the results of the Landmine Impact Survey conducted in 2003, NPA decided to focus on the Bosanska Posavina region as this region was most affected by the longterm negative effects of landmines and other explosive remnants of war. more >>

Croatia

NPA is the only NGO accredited by the Croatian authorities to conduct survey and mine clearance in Croatia and works closely with Croatian authorities as well as with local communities. Since 2001, NPA has surveyed 49 km2, handed back to the local community
approximately 24 km2 of mine free land and removed and destroyed 1,856 mines, 114 cluster munitions and 4282 other Explosive Remnants of War (ERW).  more >>

Serbia

NPA conducted a demining project in the municipality of Šid, in the Republic of Serbia from October 2006 until June 2008. The goal of the project was to clear 25% of the minefields on the Serbian side of the border between Serbia and Croatia, releasing land for productive re-use and supporting in clearing the border between Serbia and Croatia for landmines. The project was finished in June 2008, after having returned 1,000,000 square meters to local communities removing and destroying 349 mines and other explosive remnants of war. Media Development

Norwegian People’s Aid has been supporting independent media in former Yugoslavia since 1998. The programme supports and implements various activities in Kosovo, Macedonia and Serbia. more >>

Youth Initiatives in SEE

Is a regional programme supporting youth initiatives in SEE. Current focus is on regional networking, youth antidiscrimination, demilitarization and initiatives in schooling system and local communities. more >>
