 Sports play an important role at the individual, community, national and global level. Access to and participation in sports provides an opportunity to experience social and moral inclusion for people otherwise marginalized by social, cultural or religion barriers due to gender, disability or other forms of discrimination. Through sports, youth can experience equality, freedom and dignifying means for empowerment.

DISL               

The Dar Independent Sports League (DISL) as a community services initiative undertaken by a Norwegian NGO, Norwegian Peoples Aids (NPA) and the International School of Tanganyika (IST) experienced the tremendous changes since started in 2005 from the small league of  8 schools to more than 204 teams of basketball and football league that gather 1500 youth every week from September to June every year from International schools, Local schools, orphanage institutions and sports organizations, participants coming from different nationalities, social settings, religion, who meet and play together with the main them of ‘bringing youth together  through sports’ Since DISL involve many youth we also seen the potential in using it as a tool for raising awareness issues and promote moral values as respect, tolerance, sportsmanship and gender equality.
