Programs
The overall goal of NPA’s work in Tanzania is that oppressed people – in particular women, young people and those in marginal rural livelihoods – are better able to mobilise and organise to secure access to and control of resources they need in order to sustain and improve their livelihoods, and to get better representation in public and policy debate.

In addition reversing gender based exclusion will be a core concern. There will be a strong focus on supporting efforts to strengthen democratic norms and expectations in village governance and co-operative associations. The programme will support national initiatives pressing for democratic norms as well as collaborations between national and local civil society actors. |
NPA’s country programme in Tanzania includes four areas of work:
• Democratic Rights – with an emphasis on local government reform
• Land and Resource Rights
• Youth Rights – with an emphasis on sports as a catalyst for wider development
NPA’s programmes are based on a set of core partnerships with Tanzanian organisations/groups that can last for several years,
but NPA also works flexibly with shorter-term partnerships, alliances and initiatives that advance the objectives of its programmes.
