Humanitarian mine action refers to activities undertaken to reduce the effect caused by landmines and other explosive remnants of war in terms of social, economic and environmental impact of mines and UXO. The objective is the reduction of risk to a level where people can live safely and where economic, social, and health development can occur without hindrance from landmines. Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) has specialised in humanitarian mine action activities, since we started our first mine action project in Cambodia in 1992. NPA has worked with mine action in more than 20 countries around the world, and become one of the leading NGOs in the field of humanitarian mine action.
