Khmer Youth Association

In 1992, young people and students formed the Khmer Youth Association (KYA) to raise awareness of the effects of drug abuse and to increase an understanding of human rights and democracy.  KYA has a staff of 40 and operates in 8 provinces. A major component of KYA's campaign is the promotion of peer educators from target groups. Ten of them, recruited and trained by KYA, conducted over 600 informal drug awareness sessions for young people and gave training on drug abuse and related laws. KYA has researched drug abuse in target communities and conducted anti-drug initiatives. KYA has carried out projects promoting democracy, health education and literacy.

Vision - youth working with youth for positive social change

Through its partnership with KYA, NPA has provided research training, taken part in cultural exchanges with the International Youth Exchange of Sweden and and helped KYA to develop tools for monitoring training and field activities.  NPA assisted KYA's internal project assessment and with developing management systems.
