When using the Dictionary, please note that:
- in some cases, development terms have been interpreted/defined by NPA, reflecting how Norwegian People's Aid usually understands and applies these terms within the context of the organisation's development interventions. Such definitions/interpretations are therefore prefixed by: NPA-context ;
- in other cases the methodological "tool" - the Logical Framework Approach (LFA) - has provided the definition/interpretation presented, which is then prefixed by: LFA ;
- some of the terms included in this document are normative and heavily value-based, and have over time been subject to profound philosophical/political exposition and debate. It would be a futile ambition to try to present their comprehensive "translation" or "definition" in this Dictionary. The presentations should therefore not be seen to represent a definitive "NPA view" shared by all employees of the organisation, but rather as input for further debate and clarification.
- Coded references indicate link to in-house resource persons or relevant literature.
The remaining definitions/interpretations are assumed to be more or less commonly held by NPA as well as the development community in general. - A development term which is repeated in the definition/interpretation section, is usually referred to only by the initial letter of the full term, e.g.:
