the newspaper's work and priorities. When challenged by the women on why women and their work were never front page material for The Citizen, he defended himself by claiming the newspaper had to print what sells the paper. When again challenged by one of the SPLM women on whether he had ever had a woman on the front page and seen that this sold less papers, he first avoided the question, but when asked to give a simple yes or no, he had to answer "of course not!".

The participants also discussed how women are portrayed when they do appear in the news papers, and also the representation of women journalists. The executive of the Union of Southern Sudan Journalists, Isaac Vuni, also answered questions and advised the participants to use the media more to get their messages across to people and to make sure women are more visible in the newspapers.

Towards the end of the day, the Hon. Deputy Secretary General of SPLM, Dr. Ann Itto, held a session on the importance of the women leaders of SPLM in the nation building of Sudan.
