Local politics in Cotacachi, Ecuador

The central political process in Ecuador in 2008 was the preparation of a new Constitution. Social organisations participated actively in the process with proposals regarding issues such as indigenous peoples´ rights, democratisation of the state, and the management of natural resources. Murders of Salvadoran environmentalist leaders
