NPA clears landmines and cluster bombs left after war and conflict. We have cleared one billion square metres of land and removed over 2 million landmines and explosives in more than 40 countries since 1992.
Yet, millions of mines and cluster bombs remain in the ground. 60 million people live in areas affected by mines and explosives, where one step in the wrong direction could be fatal. A majority of casualties caused by explosive weapons are civilians. More than half are children.
Mines and cluster munition don’t discriminate between adult and child, soldier and civilian. Concealed under the ground, they continue to kill and maim for decades after a war has come to an end.
