NPA Laos Visits NPA Vietnam for Knowledge Exchange

The NPA Laos Operations Management team, led by Operations Manager Mr. Magnus Johanson and Deputy Country Director Mrs. Linh Nguyen, recently visited NPA Vietnam in Quang Tri Province for a two-day knowledge exchange, 21 and 22 July.

The delegation was divided into two groups. One visited the Quang Tri North programme, where they were welcomed by Technical Field Manager Christopher Willis, Provincial Operations Manager Bao Nguyen, Provincial Programme Manager Mo Bui, and their team. The second group visited the Quang Tri South programme, where they were received by Provincial Operations Manager Viet Mai, Provincial Programme Manager Trang Nguyen, and their team.

During the field visits, the team observed technical survey and clearance operations, including field procedures, detector deployment and testing, live digital reporting, task planning, and controlled demolitions. The delegation also learned more about NPA Vietnam’s operational planning, team deployment and tasking, information management, and quality management systems, gaining valuable insights into the approaches that support safe and efficient land release.

Visits such as these strengthen collaboration across NPA programmes and support continuous learning to improve our operations to better serve communities affected by unexploded ordnance (UXO).
