ConocoPhillips, the world’s largest independent exploration and production oil and gas company based on production and proved reserves, has in February 2014 awarded Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Humanitarian Disarmament (HD) Programme Angola with a charitable gift in the amount of US $180,000. This is the third charitable gift awarded by ConocoPhillips to NPA HD Programme Angola since March 2013 totaling US $ 540,000. This, in the period of the previous 11 months, makes ConocoPhillips our second largest donor after the U.S. Department of State. American ConocoPhillips is headquartered in Houston, TX. and has operations and activities in 27 countries.
NPA's HD Programme planned activities for this period will be focused on; Mechanical Technical Survey, Full Manual Clearance and EOD activities, in addition to Mine Awareness activities and Cross Cutting issues.
With ConocoPhillips’ funding, NPA's HD Programme will deploy the services of 29 local employees through four months. The operational capacity will consists of 25 manual deminers, one section leader, one paramedic and one driver. In addition, the funding through the proposed period will form a part of the cost sharing matrix to cover the costs for the management and support staff as well as the field related running and materials and supplies support costs.
NPA's HD Programme Angola would again like to express thanks to ConocoPhillips for this generous support and we hope that this cooperation continues in future.
