3rd Review Conference CCM Consultant
We are looking for a consultant to work with the Lao PDR Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva in support of their Presidency of the 3rd Review Conference (RevCon) of the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM).

Please note: this position is subject to project approval and availability of funds.
Main Responsibilities
The RevCon Consultant will be working on supporting the Lao PDR Presidency team in its preparation of the Third Review Conference, and mainly be responsible for ensuring a smooth and efficient cooperation between the Lao PDR permanent mission to the UN in Geneva and the Presidency seated in Vientiane, ensuring that all documents are fully translated into Laotian.
This includes translation of key documents related to the development of the substantial outcome documents of the RevCon, such as the review document, the action plan and the political declaration, documentations for the preparatory meetings, consultations for the presidency on its mandate related to universalization and compliance, coordination committee meetings and other bilateral meetings of importance to the presidency.
The consultant will also support the Permanent Representative of the Lao PDR to the UN Office in Geneva in his work implementing the presidency’s mandate, including the above-mentioned meetings and other related events..
The Consultant will be hired by NPA on a consultancy contract and seconded to the Lao PDR Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva to work under the instructions, guidance and coordination from the Lao PDR Presidency and the CCM Implementation Support Unit.
The consultant will be working closely with the expert consultant that NPA is also hiring to be seconded to the Lao PDR presidency.
Location
Home office/hybrid seated in Geneva, Switzerland.
Office space will be divided between the Lao PDR Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva and home office, and in close collaboration with the Implementation Support Unit (ISU) of the CCM.
We offer
- The gross monthly compensation equals 7193 CAD
Please note that this is a 70% fourteen-month consultancy contract with no possibility of renewal (November 2025 to December 2026).
The compensation is subject to income tax according to the post location and personal citizenship obligations, which NPA has no responsibility for and the consultant is obliged to regulate personally.
Health care and insurance are also personal responsibility.
Requirements
- Valid work or residence permit allowing employment in Geneva
- Valid consultancy service registration
- Ability to start as soon as possible
- Minimum 3 years of work experience
- In depth knowledge and experience from working in/with Lao PDR
- Higher education (minimum BA) in political science, law, economics or another social science field
- Written and verbal proficiency in Laotian
- Intermediate written and verbal skills in English
- Excellent command of Microsoft Office
- Willingness to travel to Lao PDR and mine action project sites, as well as other locations, as required
What you will do
- Support the Permanent Representative of the Lao PDR to the UN Office in Geneva in his work implementing the presidency’s mandate
- Ensure full translation of all key documents and processes needed for close coordination between the Lao PDR Presidency team in Geneva and Vientiane
- Support the presidency together with the expert consultant in the organisation of meetings leading up to the 3rd RevCon, including preparatory meetings, coordination committee meetings and other consultations and briefings.
- Translating the messaging for the presidency in different events, meetings and promotions of the RevCon
