A broad approach to armed violence

Wars and armed conflicts come to an end; however, the remnants of war continue to terrorize millions of people for decades to follow.

For 25 years Norwegian People's Aid has implemented mine action programs in more than 40 states and territories. The last years NPA has expanded its work from mine action to broader areas of humanitarian disarmament – meaning both operational and advocacy work which aim to reduce and prevent harm to civilians from the impacts of weapons and ammunition, and where civil society plays a critical role. Rather than acting solely as a cure, NPA seeks to take a proactive approach aimed also at prevention.
